The Shakopee Boys Basketball Association (SBBA) is committed to providing every boy the opportunity to play basketball, regardless of financial circumstances. To support this mission, the SBBA offers two forms of financial assistance: Fee Reduction and Payment Plans.
1. Fee Reduction
For all programs, SBBA will reduce fees by up to 100% of the registration cost (including the Travel fee, if applicable) for players who qualify for free or reduced school lunch.
⚠️ Important Note on Financial Assistance
Please be aware that financial assistance will be capped for the 2025–26 season due to increased program costs. Registering early and using the payment plan is the best way to manage costs over time, especially as we anticipate higher participation this year.
How to Apply for Financial Aid:
1. Initial Application (usually starts early Aug):
• Complete the financial aid registration form on the SBBA site only once per school year.
• Include a current free/reduced school lunch verification letter from the Shakopee school district, listing the player’s name. This letter is valid from August-July of each school year so please wait until you get the current letter from the district.
• Allow 3-5 business days to receive a response from our SBBA Treasurer via email advising of application status and relevant discount code/reduced pricing link. Do not register any player's until this code arrives in your inbox.
2. Using Your Discount Code/Pricing Link:
• Once approval is received, proceed with registering for your desired program(s).
• If you have already submitted your verification letter for the current school year, you do not need to apply again. We keep your verification valid from Aug-July each school year. Simply click here to email the Finance Committee to request a new discount code for additional programs throughout the school year.
2. Payment Plans
For families seeking flexibility with program fees but not necessarily approved for Financial Assistance, SBBA offers payment plans several months prior to the program’s start. These are normally available after July 1st of each season.
Payment Plan Details:
• Families can choose to spread out registration payments over a 2-4 month period.
• A percentage of the total fee is due upfront at the time of registration, with the remaining balance automatically scheduled in installments.
• Payment plans are available during the registration process for eligible programs.
Important Notes:
• Financial assistance does not cover the following:
- Any required deposit checks
- Replacement uniform pieces
- Equipment you purchase
- Overnight stay costs
By offering fee reductions and payment plans, SBBA ensures that all boys have the opportunity to experience the joy and benefits of playing basketball, regardless of financial circumstances.
